The community is doing its best to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, including discouraging residents and visitors alike from heading to DC this weekend to see the cherry blossoms in peak bloom

Case in point: Metro has closed two stations to prevent cherry blossom visitors from crowding trains and stations, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival canceled multiple events.

It’s a bummer—but there are still ways for you to enjoy the springtime tradition. First, here are a few options for viewing them from your car across the region. Second, the Trust for The National Mall has started a live Bloom Cam around the Tidal Basin.

You can view the cherry blossoms from your computer screen using the feature, which is filmed with a live, 24/7 camera. The view will change multiple times to give visitors different angles of the Tidal Basin and the 3,700 cherry trees that surround it.
